HARMAINE TROTMAN, native of St. Thomas V.I., started training in ballet, modern, jazz, tap, Latin, gymnastics and hip hop since the early age of five. She has received scholarships at Bronx Dance Theatre and Phil Black Dance School. Charmaine is a graduate of La Guardia Performing Arts and holds a dual BA in dance and biology from Hunter College.
Charmaine’s extensive classical background, has led her to perform with various dance companies such as Alpha Omega Theatrical Dance Co., Katherine Kingsley International Dance Co., Hunter College Dance Co., Christine Giordano Dance Co., Eleo Pomare Dance Co., Rod Rodgers Dance Co., La Santa Luz Dance Co. and Joan Miller Dance Co. She has also performed in repertoire choreographed by Twyla Tharp, Ron Brown, Limon Co. and Sheryl Murakami’s “Thrash.” She is currently performing with Juxtapower Dance Company. Charmaine has also choreographed for Hunter College Dance Co., Ms. World Pageants and several new upcoming artists.
Former dancer for New Jersey Nets “Power in Motion,” Hot 97 Dancer and one of the lead dancers for Latin pop star Thalia, Charmaine has appeared as a personal trainer for the competitors on “Making the Band II” and “Bridizilla.” She has also performed with Ringling Brothers and Barnum Bailey Circus as a trainer in their show “Circus Fit.”
Charmaine is currently a group exercise coordinator, trainer and fitness instructor for New York Sports Club. She is certified through National Academy of Sports Medicine and Power Pilates. Charmaine has been teaching pilates, dance aerobics and total body conditioning for ten years. She continues to appear on Channel 7, New York One, Good Day New York, Good Morning New York and Channel 11 News for personal training fitness demos.
Charmaine’s passion for science and dance has enabled her to develop a clear understanding of the body’s biomechanics. Through pilates, she simplifies the development and strengthening of the core so that one can achieve stability and confidence in three-dimensional movements.
